The majority of the Candy Cane Lame & Lolli Poop Lane decorators clearly have no idea what Christmas is all about. Of all of the houses decorated in celebration of Christmas, only a small handfull had nativity scenes. This is a mockery of one of the most sacred days in Christianity! Yet, somehow, these clueless and offensive people and their entitled guests feel that they are celebrating in the true spirit of Christmas.
If you want to know more about the true meaning of Christmas, you might want to try reading the Gospels. A good starting point is the Gospel of St. Matthew in Chapters 1 and 2. Link: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+1&version=KJV

Christmas Eve, 2022
The reviews and gripes that so many of you nugatory peons post on Facebook, Yelp, Google, and other places are quite amusing. They shout, "LOOK AT ME--I AM ENTITLED! I have every right to violate the law and create a dangerous nuisance. I have every right to violate the California Motor Vehicle Code and drive at night without my lights on. I should be able to wear dark clothes and jaywalk in the middle of the street without fear of being hit by a car. I should be able to litter people's yards. I should be able to stop in the middle of the road and block traffic. Me, me, me..."
Clearly, the vast majority of you forget that you are visitors in someone else's neighborhood. This neighborhood is more than just Candy Cane Lame and Lolli Poop Lane--it is every street within a mile of these two streets.
For those of you who cannot see beyond your own noses, that means that people who have lived in the area for decades--many people have lived here longer than this fiasco has been a thing--have to suffer from your selfishness. Ironically, the majority of you do this in the name of "Christmas!" Those who are annoyed with your rudeness and entitlement are labeled "Scrooges" and are in the grip of the Devil himself. Yet, you can break the law, create a mess, create a nuisance, and generally be pains in the arses, and everyone is expected to welcome you with open arms?!?! Oh, cry a river when you cannot find this place on Google Maps. Boohoo.

Go home.
Go home, now.
You litter.
You are rude.
You make traffic.
Traffic makes it take a long time to go places.
Merry Christmas--at your house.
Bye-bye!

UPDATE: Unfortunately, Candy Cane Lane is not closed--yet. The decorating residents, the visitors, and the City of Vacaville's past refusal to enforce the law have created the NUISANCE known as Candy Cane Lane. Something that the decorating residents may or may not realize is that their participation in creating and sustaining this nuisance potentially opens them up to tremendous legal liability in the event that someone is seriously injured or killed. If and when this happens, Candy Cane Lane will not only be closed, but those that created this nuisance will have a costly legal headache on their hands.
EDITED ORIGINAL POST:
Because this display has attracted thousands of people and cars, it has become a nuisance under California State law.
Merry Christmas!

In 2017, a resident of "Candy Cane Lane" did not decorate her home because her mother had recently passed away and she was not up to it. This grieving woman was sent this letter ---------->
Do these people even know what Christmas is and what it represents? Clearly, many of the residents of Candy Cane Lane and Lolli Pop Lane do not know the true meaning of Christmas. Are these the types of people that you want to associate yourselves with?

If you are going to be a jaywalker, you might want to take precautions so as not to become a speed bump. The Candy Cane Area, despite all of the Christmas lights, has several areas that are not very well-lit. There is also only one crosswalk in the area, which is located at the intersection of Hemlock Road and North Orchard Avenue. This crosswalk is rarely used by Candy Cane Lane visitors.
If you are going to jaywalk, please do the following:
If you are going to jaywalk and you get honked at or yelled at, realize that YOU are the problem. You are contributing to the traffic problems, and you are putting yourself in danger. If you are going to venture into a neighborhood where you do not live, you should act appropriately and you should be courteous.

Many visitors to the Candy Cane Lane area feel compelled to turn off the headlights of their cars while driving so as to better see the Christmas lights and decorations. This is a violation of the California Vehicle Code.
California Vehicle Code, Division 12, Chapter 2, Article 1, Section 24250, clearly states, "During darkness, a vehicle shall be equipped with lighted lighting equipment as required for the vehicle by this chapter. (Enacted by Stats. 1959, Ch. 3.)."
Yes, this law applies to you! Quit being a scofflaw, drive right, and be safe. There are numerous pedestrians in the area, including small children and pets, who often wander into the road. When you drive with your lights turned off, you are not only creating a dangerous situation--you are breaking the law!

UPDATE: Expect significant changes to the Candy Cane Lane area. Police will soon be patrolling the area, and next year there will be even more significant changes. The new City Council is now willing to work with residents to improve the situation!
For many years, many residents of "Candy Cane Lane" and "Lolli Pop Lane" have engaged in the exuberant decoration of their homes. While these individuals certainly have the right to express themselves, the unregulated traffic in the area has become dangerous and tiresome.
Many who live in the area (not just Candy Cane Lane and Lolli Pop Lane, but all surrounding streets), do not appreciate the increased traffic, litter, and general nuisance that is being created for a solid month. Imagine living in this area and having to be inconvenienced on a daily basis every single day for an entire month; year, after year, after year, after year... It gets old, it is inconvenient, and above all... IT IS UNSAFE!
Imagine that there is a situation that requires emergency services in this area. The volume of traffic will greatly slow the arrival of police, fire, and ambulance services to the area. In a worst-case scenario, this could result in death.
Due to the poor lighting on Orchard Avenue, and the fact that many people wear dark clothing, it is difficult to see people who jaywalk. There are no crosswalks in the immediate area, and these jaywalking pedestrians are putting themselves in jeopardy of being a casualty. Many people also jaywalk and meander into the streets on Candy Cane Lane and Lolli Pop Lane. Again, they are putting themselves in jeopardy of being a casualty. Many drivers turn off their lights to enhance their viewing experience. This is dangerous and illegal. Many drivers make sudden, and often prolonged, stops. This creates traffic flow problems. Lastly, there have been numerous incidents of road rage.
The Vacaville Police Department and the Vacaville Manager's Office claim that they cannot patrol this area because they have been instructed not to by the Vacaville City Council. By not having a police patrol in the area, the City of Vacaville is extremely irresponsible and is effectively promoting an extremely hazardous situation that will eventually lead to injury and/or death.
